About Us
 We are a non-profit company
of performing and teaching artists with over 30 years of experience
as educators, consultants, change agents, and world-class performers. Based
in New York’s Historic Hudson Valley, we serve clients regionally,
nationally, and internationally through our three program divisions, Creative
Leaps International, The Learning Arts and Icarus
Musicworks.
 Our principal artists are dedicated
to providing life-changing encounters with the arts. Collectively,
they are recipients of over sixty national and international awards
for excellence in artistry and performance and have performed to
acclaim on the stages of Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and other
leading concert halls and stages worldwide. Whether among school
children or government executives, teachers or research scientists,
ASA’s performing and teaching artists have learned to harness the
transformative power of the arts as a catalyst for invigorating
learning, for nurturing personal and professional development,
and for stimulating creative thinking across the disciplines.

A Philosophy
of Interdisciplinary Connections and Knowledge Integration
The
knowledge explosion of recent decades has resulted in a prevailing
approach to knowledge that is highly specialized. As a result,
our everyday experiences of knowledge and learning can be
overwhelming and fragmented. Connectivity across our
vast expanses of knowledge has become a daunting task, and
interdisciplinary learning a largely neglected art. At ASA,
we are passionately focused on this art of connectivity Drawing
on all the art forms at our disposal, we connect seemingly
disparate realms of knowledge and help learners forge new
and original combinations of ideas. We inspire a fresh
sense of synthesis and interrelationship through our
artful connectivity which remains at all times a playful
process, full of exploration and discovery made possible
by the emotional power of the arts. We set this
process in motion via an original design principle called
“creative juxtaposition”, an arts-inspired technique capitalizing
on the mind’s own associative and meaning-making tendencies. Our
performing and teaching artists expertly guide this process
and help our program participants to harvest multiple creative
connections, deeper personal insights and rich new solutions
to the challenges at hand. Harnessing the power of the arts
and a renewed sense of discovery, we challenge individuals
to renew and redefine their experience of knowledge and learning.
